Media statement:

The Department's significant grant support for 11 WA farmers’ markets, both

existing and new, is welcomed. Recent weather events and fuel supply issues are

seriously impacting our farmers and regional communities, and have exposed food

supply chain challenges,’ said Western Australian Farmers Markets’ Association

(WAFMA) Chairperson, Jenny Payet.

‘It is evident especially now, that farmers’ markets are ideally positioned to support

local food supply for communities by supporting our farmers, that being fresh,

accessible and regional produce for communities from Carnarvon down to Albany’.

‘ WAFMA congratulates the successful grant recipients and looks forward to

supporting them to ensure the authenticity, growth and capability of WA farmers

markets continues to grow’.
